DEEPTI MAHAJAN MITTAL

Dr Deepti Mahajan Mittal is a climate and sustainable energy policy specialist based in Dubai, UAE. She is currently Senior Policy Advisor at Emirates Nature-WWF.

Dr Mittal was earlier with the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment as Senior Policy Specialist. Before joining the Ministry, she led the Climate and Energy Programme at Emirates Nature-WWF, UAE, spearheading the Programme’s strategy and managing a portfolio of projects on renewable energy, sustainable transport and climate business engagement. Before relocating to the UAE in 2013, she led the Centre for Research on Energy Security at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), India, working with various clients, including UN-ESCAP, IUCN and DfID UK.

Dr Mittal has published widely. Her speaking engagements have ranged from regional expert group meetings and conference keynotes to trainings for youth COP delegates and university lectures. While focused on impactful climate action across economic sectors and communities, she also takes keen interest in multilateral processes and the functioning of inter-governmental institutions.

In 2024, Dr Mittal was recognized by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) for showing impact and leadership in climate and sustainability in the Middle East and North Africa region. She was one amongst 60 women from across the region featured as part of BCG’s V60 initiative.

Dr Mittal holds a doctorate in International Politics and Organisation from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India; a Master’s degree in International Relations from University of Nottingham, UK, where she was a Commonwealth scholar; and a Bachelor’s in Journalism from India’s prestigious Lady Shri Ram College for Women.
